Discover What Working Dogs Can Do
Past K9 Heroes events have showcased a range of canine skills. These are some of the ways working dogs serve; the 2026 lineup will be announced as teams are confirmed.
Find and Rescue
Search-and-rescue dogs work with their handlers to help locate people who need assistance.
Detect and Protect
Specially trained dogs use their sense of smell in detection work, supporting military and civilian public-safety teams.
Support and Connect
Assistance and therapy work shows another side of canine service: helping people in daily life and offering comfort and connection.
Fleet Week Beyond the Waterfront
At Duboce Park, Fleet Week brings service into the heart of a San Francisco neighborhood. K9 Heroes connects residents with the military and civilian teams whose work helps keep communities safe and supported.
It is an opportunity to discover the training, trust, and teamwork behind these partnerships—and celebrate the dogs and people who make a difference.

Calling Bay Area Government K9 Teams
San Francisco Fleet Week invites K9 handlers and teams from local, regional, state, and federal government agencies serving the Bay Area to attend and explore participating in K9 Heroes.
Whether your team works in search and rescue, fire and emergency response, detection, public safety, conservation, community support, or another area of public service, we welcome your interest. Share the work of your canine partners and help our community discover the many ways K9 teams serve.
