Navy Band Southwest is one of the Navy's finest and oldest continuing musical organizations. Now with over 80 years of support to the San Diego community, the band serves as the musical ambassador for the Commander, Navy Region Southwest. Under the direction of Lieutenant Joel M. Davidson, the band is located onboard Naval Base San Diego and serves the military and civilian communities throughout the Southwestern United States.

Destroyers are Navy Band Southwest's contemporary music ensemble. They entertain audiences with a refreshing blend of modern hits from a variety of styles including today's top hits, Latin, country, as well as classic rock-and-roll. Performing current popular music at high schools throughout the Southwest, Destroyers also perform public concerts at a variety of venues. Destroyers offer diverse, high-energy shows that will entertain audiences of all ages!

Brass Quintet

Audiences of all ages enjoy performances by Navy Band Southwest's Brass Quintet. The quintet performs a wide range of musical styles encompassing traditional and modern brass literature, including Dixieland jazz, patriotic marches, and current popular selections.

Quintet performances include public concerts, military ceremonies, and receptions. They also have a dynamic educational program specifically designed for students of all ages.

The 1st Marine Division Band, based at Camp Pendleton, California, consists of 50 Marine musicians. While the primary mission of the 1st Marine Division Band is to provide musical support for military parades and ceremonies, they remain versatile in order to accommodate a wide variety of musical requests. In addition to the Ceremonial Band and Wind Ensemble, smaller ensembles are formed such as the Popular Music Group, Jazz Combo, Brass Quintet, Octet Ensemble, and Brass Band.

The Ceremonial Band is the cornerstone of the 1st Marine Division Band. It combines precision drill movements with inspiring music to showcase our proud military heritage. No Marine Corps ceremony would be complete without this traditional musical element. The 1st Marine Division Ceremonial Band has traveled throughout the United States and internationally, supporting community events, military ceremonies, and parades. Whether performing for the President of the United States, foreign dignitaries, local military commands, or various communities throughout the United States, the 1st Marine Division Band represents the very best of Marine Corps music and is the "Pride of the Division".

Wind Ensemble

The Wind Ensemble is regarded as one of the finest military ensembles in the United States today. At full strength, this 50 to 70 man concert band performs traditional marches, overtures, instrumental solos, classical transcriptions, and patriotic favorites. The Wind Ensemble performs regularly throughout Southern California, including annual appearances at the California Center for Arts in Escondido, but has also traveled across and outside the continental United States. Highlight performances include the annual Fleet Week Celebration in San Francisco and Los Angeles, California and the WWI Annual Remembrance Ceremony in Belleau Wood, France.

Affectionately known as "Old George", our Popular Music Group (PMG) embodies a wide American spectrum of popular music. Led by a Marine Vocalist, their music styles range from pop, funk, and rock to country and R&B. Their high energy show features original songs and arrangements brought to life by the musicians of the Blue Diamond. The PMG is used at venues that benefit from loud music and best suits community outreach, volunteer events, and family/unit functions. Music amplification is required and can be provided by the Blue Diamond Sound team for audiences of up to 500, and can even operate on battery power for a single set.
