San Francisco Fleet Week Announces Off The Grid Fleet Fest presented by Lyft

SAN FRANCISCO—San Francisco Fleet Week is proud to announce the first annual Fleet Week Off The Grid Fleet Fest presented by Lyft, 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., Oct. 10-11, 2015 at Pier 80.

“We are pleased to announce the first annual Fleet Fest with our community partners as we celebrate and thank our men and women of the sea services during San Francisco’s 35th Annual Fleet Week,” said Lewis Loeven, San Francisco Fleet Week Executive Director.

Fleet Fest includes a two-day food and live-music festival for the public to celebrate and salute visiting service members and ships at Pier 80, including the USS Coronado, USS Stockdale, USS Cape St. George and the USCGC Boutwell. More than 2,300 service members will be in San Francisco for SF Fleet Week 2015. Highlighted musical groups include Lavay Smith, Delphi Freeman, Strumming for Vets and many more.

“Off the Grid is excited to partner with Fleet Week this year to bring a unique experience to Pier 80. With 10 food trucks, live music and a beer garden, Off the Grid Fleet Week Food Fest will compliment four pier-side United States Navy and Coast Guard ships open for tours,” said Sinead Kennedy, Off the Grid Marketing Director. “At its core, Off the Grid believes in the power of a shared food experience to connect communities and invites the Bay area to join this free public event.”

San Francisco-based ridesharing app Lyft will feature a passenger pick-up and drop-off zone at Pier 80 and provide service members and the general public an SF Fleet Week promotional code for rides in the city.

“Lyft is proud to serve as a community partner to San Francisco Fleet Week and to sponsor the first ever Fleet Fest,” said Rex Tibbens, Chief Operating Officer of Lyft. “Lyft’s ridesharing app will help safely transport the 2300 service men and women and thousands of civilian participants to and from events throughout the week. We invite and encourage all to join us at Pier 80 for Fleet Fest where we will celebrate the active and non-active military who serve our country.”

The event is free and open to the public. RSVP to the official Facebook event page here:
