Dogs trained in Urban Search and Rescue (US&R), bomb and drug detection, and post traumatic stress therapy will present a live demonstration and program for the general public.

Parade of Ships

The first of the naval vessels in the traditional Parade of Ships will make her way under the Golden Gate Bridge at 11:00 AM,  along the Marina Green to then  dock at their respective piers along the Embarcadero.

The Humanitarian Village is a festive county fair environment of food, entertainment and interactive displays on the Marina Green where military and civilian organizations share information about disaster preparedness, response, and recovery. This year’s village highlights advances in the role of renewable energy sources in disaster planning.

Italian Heritage Parade

Every year The United States Marine Corps Band participates in the nation’s oldest Italian Heritage parade from Fisherman’s Wharf to North Beach. For more information, please visit www.sfcolumbusday.org/parade

The First Marine Division Band, Camp Pendleton, CA  and The Third Fleet Navy Band will perform in the parade.

High School Band Challenge

United States Marine Corps Band leads this event with a performance of patriotic music, followed by select high school marching bands (to be announced) taking the stage to compete for prize money to support their school music programs.
